The fact that ‘Ohemaa’ hit-maker, Kuami Eugene was once singing gospel keeps popping up time and time again. Many still find it difficult to accept why he should leave gospel, just to sing secular music. Others insist his voice is just perfect for a gospel musician, so why should he stop. It is in this light, that he had to speak to a similar question in an interview on Adom FM’s Work and Happiness.

He answered to a question of why does he seem to be only good at making secular music, when his voice is equally excellent for singing gospel. Kuami Eugene explained that, he sees what he does now a channel through which he spreads God’s word. He added that, his career gives him the a larger audience, which is pertinent to reaching out to people with the gospel and he has even done it with his ‘Wish me well’ his smash hit single.

Furthermore, he explained that preaching God’s message does not only mean holding a bible or singing only gospel or being a chorister and he preaches with is music even better than what those people do.

He stated: “I’m one of the top five most viewed internet artistes in Ghana, Angela has 14 million views and ‘Wish Me Well’ has 11 million so I have the audience and I think I’m preaching God’s message through my music better than a bible holder or a chorister,”

Answering to a question about his religious status, he said:

“I am a strict churchgoer and member of Christ Congregation of the Presbyterian Church but I go to church whenever I get the time,”
