The 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA) was marred with several controversies of why some artistes did not deserve the awards they won on the night. The most popular one being the biggest award for the night, Artist of the year. Where many argued that the winner, Kuami Eugene’s work within the year under review did not deem him fit to win the coveted title.

Away from all the controversies, the organizers of the awards scheme, Charterhouse have finally released the final results for the 21st edition of the VGMA, used to adjudge winners.

The final results comprised of 40% for public voting and 30% each for the VGMA Academy and the VGMA board for many award categories. However, there were categories that were fully decided by the VGMA Academy and the VGMA board whilst the African Artiste of the Year and the Instrumentalist of the Year are solely adjudged by only the VGMA Board.

Moreover, addressing the controversy of whether or not Kuami Eugene deserved to win the Artiste of the Year, it was seen that he won by a whopping 36% of the entire votes collated. Whilst Diana Hamilton and Sarkodie trailed him with 26% and 22% respectively.
