The bank is a subsidiary of the Nigerian-based multinational financial services company, Access bank Group, headquartered in Nigeria. With subsidiaries in Ghana, the United Kingdom, Kenya, DR Congo, Zambia, Rwanda, Gambia, and Sierra Leone, it also has offices in the United Arab Emirates, China, India, and Lebanon.
History of Access Bank Ghana
Access Bank Ghana began operation in Ghana in 2009. To become a public company and be listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange, it undertook its initial public offering in 2017 and sold 6 percent of its shares, raising $6 million. This enabled its transition from Access Bank Ghana Limited to Access Bank (Ghana) Plc, thus a Public Limited Company.
Meanwhile, as of 2020, Access Bank Ghana’s total assets were worth $861 million(GHS 5.824 billion), inclusive of shareholder’s equity of $155.5 million(GHS 1.052 billion). It is currently listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange and traded as ACCESS.
