“Tagine” immerses listeners into a dark, jazzy vibe influenced by psychedelic jazz legends like John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Medeski Martin.

This song exemplifies the rare talent of the trio and cohesion in their early 20s when it was first recorded. It is a must-listen that demonstrates the early explorations of the group, like finding old cassette tapes without labels.

The song’s title, “Tagine“, pays homage to a Moroccan restaurant where the trio used to attend a weekly jam session. The recording reflects their early days at Knitting Factory when Ari had just finished college and used to play with Marco and Joe at Tagine and Knitting Factory.
