Ghanaian media personality and Kumawood actor Big Akwes has sparked controversy on social media with his unusual remarks about the death of legendary musician Daddy Lumba.
The legendary musician gave up the ghost last Saturday and has left the entire country in a state of mourning. Several individuals have expressed their condolences to the widow and bereaved family. However, Big Akwes’s condolence message has sparked widespread controversy on the internet.
In a recent Tv appearance, the actor turned media personality expressed his relief upon hearing about Daddy Lumba’s demise. Before you get repulsive, he went on to throw more light on his lamentation by stating that Daddy Lumba had suffered immense physical pain for several years, hence his death will grant him relief from all the pain.
“Lumba was suffering. He battled spinal complications, underwent surgery, and had been using a wheelchair for about 3 years,” he stated.
Big Akwes went on to narrate how Lumba was absent for a GHS 400,000 performance last month due to his deteriorated health situation, as well as how frail he looked during a recent music clip he starred in.
The statement made by Big Akwes has caused an uproar on social media. While some fans sided with Big Akwes, others badmouthed him for his choice of words, describing it as insensitive and disrespectful.
Despite the backlash, Big Akwes has maintained his stance, stating that his words were compassionate ones and not intended to instigate mockery.
