C’batch Releases His Latest EP, “I Guess You Want It This Way”

A melody can linger in a songwriter’s mind for years, waiting for the exact right moment to fully bloom. Artist and guitarist C’batch proves that patience pays off with his new EP, “I Guess You Want It This Way,” released on September 8, 2026, through Stevette Music.

The story of this project dates back nearly 26 years, when C’batch’s Jamaican-born wife, Yvette, first encouraged him to write a reggae song. Although an early version came close, C’batch knew the piece was not yet complete. Yet, despite the passage of time, the central hook and verse melody stayed with him, echoing quietly in his mind for over a decade.

In 2026, C’batch finally returned to the writing board, drafting fresh lyrics around that long-held melody to bring the song into the present. The six-track EP offers listeners six unique interpretations of the composition, exploring it through different musical lenses while keeping its rich reggae spirit and core melody firmly intact.

The project is a major highlight in C’batch’s 2026 “Year of the Vault” campaign, a dedicated effort to open his personal archives, revisit unfinished ideas from across the decades, and share these long-treasured works with the world.

Beyond its personal history, the EP serves as a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Jamaican guitarist Ernest Ranglin. C’batch, a passionate guitarist himself, had the memorable opportunity to meet Ranglin at London’s Heathrow Airport back in February 2001.

Ranglin’s remarkable contribution to Jamaican music and extraordinary craftsmanship left a lasting impression, making him the natural inspiration for this deeply personal body of work.

“I Guess You Want It This Way” is a celebrated testament to artistic perseverance, heritage, and the timeless power of a good melody. By blending decades of memories with fresh musical instrumentation, C’batch delivers a rich listening experience that honours Jamaican musical history while celebrating a personal story twenty-six years in the making.
