The approval of Ghana’s 2022 Budget has been a big conundrum between the majority and minority in parliament.
With the majority holding firm to their stance that the budget must be approved, the minority strongly opposes this over the inclusion of the e-levy in the budget.
The house convened yesterday to further deliberate on the matter. However, the parliamentary sitting further plunged the house into a stalemate as both parties tried fighting their way through.
The deadlock even worsened when during the e-levy bill’s Certificate of Urgency Vote, the 1st and 2nd deputy speakers of Parliament wanted to swap places[presiding the house] and vote.
This literally turned the house into a boxing arena as the minority opposed the act but the majority wanted to force their way through.
