Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin Exchange Pleasantries With President John Dramani Mahama At Funeral Of Late Lt. Gen. Arnold Quainoo

The final farewell service held in honour of the late Lt. Gen. Arnold Quainoo at the St. Catherine Catholic Church brought several high-profile officials together to pay their last respects to the military general.

Among the top officials who made it to the funeral ceremony are H.E. John Dramani Mahama, former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Honourable Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and several high-ranking military officials.

In a video clip trending on social media, the Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, was spotted exchanging pleasantries with H.E John Dramani Mahama as the duo engaged in a short dialogue. Although the content of their dialogue was inaudible in the video, it sparked several social reactions.

The Minority Leader, known for his outspoken personality, has been a key figure in the ongoing ministerial vetting proceedings in parliament and had a cordial exchange of pleasantries with the first Gentleman of Ghana in spite of their political differences.

Lieutenant General Arnold Quainoo, a highly celebrated military high-ranking official, passed away at the age of 85 after achieving remarkable feats during his tenure of service in the Ghana Armed Forces.

Among his notable achievements include serving as the Chief of Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces in succession of Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings, as well as serving as the inaugural commander of the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG).

The brief encounter between these two top-ranking officials has demonstrated the democracy of our motherland, upholding national interests over personal interests.
