I still stand by my ‘Nana Toaso’ campaign for Nana Addo – Sarkodie declares
In the build up to the 2020 general elections, Sarkodie campaigned for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He did so in a song, ‘Happy Day’ in which he featured Kuami Eugene. Many can recall his popular ‘Nana Toaso’ line, which means “Nana Continue”, an endorsement of Nana Addo’s reelection.
However, in the wake of excruciating hardships in the current economic crisis, many have been criticizing the rapper. Others have also been calling on him to lash out at the government just as he did during President Mahama’s government.
Unperturbed by the backlashes, Sarkodie says he still stands by his ‘Nana Toaso’ campaign statement. He disclosed he supported Nana Addo because he benefited from his Free SHS policy. That is why he still stands by it because he was specific about what exactly he was supporting.
“What I said he [Nana Addo] should ‘toaso’’, I still stand by it because I think I benefited from free education directly and I have the right to say I endorse that because this is directly. My mum has these girls we have been supporting. At first, she would call asking me to help. I am not saying it is much but just the fact that I am not even hearing that, it came from that place, and I was specific about what I was endorsing,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Sarkodie was speaking in an interview on Culture Daily on 3Music TV. He was there to promote his forthcoming Jamz album which drops tomorrow.
