National Security Intercepts Stashed Cash And Gold Bars at Sapeiman

A huge stash of US dollars and Ghanaian Cedi notes has been discovered and seized by National Security officials after conducting a discreet operation based on an anonymous tip-off.

Security officials reportedly discovered about 12 20-foot shipping containers in a warehouse in the heart of Sapeiman, a town in the Ga South Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.

The undisclosed amount of US dollar notes contained both genuine and counterfeit notes, the cedi notes were also inclusive. The Ghana Cedi notes were also a mix of genuine and fake currency notes in GHS 50 and GHS 100 denominations only.

The security officials also chanced upon several boxes filled with unidentified metal bars which are believed to be gold. The stash of cash was meticulously covered with several wooden boards and charcoal to give it a discreet look to avoid suspicion by authorities.

The boxes containing the suspected gold bars were also highly concealed, revealing the expertise involved in this organized crime. The public’s speculations indicate that this organized crime is being executed by a high-ranking political figure or someone with political backing.

The national security officials were able to intercept 10 out of the twelve containers; however, the agency has assured the public that it is working rigorously to get hold of the remaining two.

Four (4) suspects have been since identified with an ongoing manhunt for the ringleader, who goes by the name “Alhaji.”

A few pieces of military attire believed to be fake were also found at the scene, which has raised concerns about the impersonation of military personnel and the risk it poses to national security.

This discovery has plunged Ghanaians into a state of shock. Many netizens have applauded National Security Officials for this successful operation and have urged the agency to get to the roots of this organized crime case.
