H.E John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to all government appointees under his administration. He has directed all government appointees to declare all their assets or risk losing them together with their designated positions.
As part of his “Resetting Ghana” initiative, the President has rolled out several policy reforms to cut down costs and improve work efficiency.
This move is aimed at improving transparency and accountability within the current government and to the people of Ghana.
Declaring one’s assets will enable authorities to document all information about one’s possessions before being appointed into office. In a situation where one is being charged with a case of mismanagement of funds or similar charges, the government, through the Office of Special Prosecutor, can assess this information and reevaluate one’s assets, which will reveal any abnormalities if there are any.
Providing such information will aid the government in conducting frequent audits to ensure transparency in its operation and accountability to the Ghanaian populace.
