Prophet D.Y. Donkor Granted GHS 20,000 Bail After Public Outcry

Head Pastor of City of Wisdom Centre, Prophet Daniel Yaw (D.Y.) Donkoh has been granted bail of GHS 20,000 with three sureties, following his arrest on July 25.

The prophet reportedly publicized on his Facebook page a vision he had about dancehall prodigy Shatta Wale. He revealed that Shatta Wale suffered from a gun assault, which claimed his life.

This revelation was met with a hostile response from Shatta Wale, who took to his social media pages to lambast the prophet, calling out the Ghana Police Service to arrest him or risk taking action by himself. He went on to slam the police for allowing these ‘fake prophecies’ to be publicized, causing public uneasiness.

Following the arrest of Prophet D.Y. Donkoh, he was processed to court, where he was charged with publication of false news and causing emotional trauma and fear to Shatta Wale and his entourage.

On July 28, Prophet D.Y. Donkoh issued a press statement apologizing to Shatta Wale and the general public for creating public unrest and emotional trauma caused by his prophecy about the Dancehall prodigy.

He, however, stated that his prophecy was backed by a divine revelation. In his statement, he wrote, “I deeply regret the trauma; it was never intended to cause fear and panic or emotional distress. Going forward, I will exercise greater spiritual discretion and sensitivity.”

Prophet D.Y. Donkoh will appear before the Dansoman Circuit Court on 27 August 2025 for a second hearing.

This incident sheds light on the sensitivity of publicising divine-led revelations involving high-profile individuals. Going forward, the case of Prophet D.Y. Donkoh will serve as a deterrent to others who are inclined towards such practices.
