Popular Ghanaian Afrobeat and pop singer King Promise bagged the ultimate award of the ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the just-ended 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) after a near win missed to Stonebwoy last year.
King Promise, known for his smooth vocals and versatility in seamlessly blending different genres, earned himself the grand award despite the competitiveness involved.
He beat Stonebwoy and King Paluta to win the Artist of the Year Award (AOTY). His joy knew no bounds as he took to the stage to receive his plaque.
The Terminator hit-maker revealed in his acceptance speech after he was crowned the ultimate TGMA Artiste of the Year that, “If any young person is watching me right now who has a dream, use me as an example of resilience. My first year, when I broke out on the scene, I had seven nominations, and I left with zero.
While some people laughed, I worked harder because I believe in God’s timing. Today, I am the chosen one.”
King Promise’s recent TGMA award-winning spree is a testament to his resilience and dedication to the perfection of his craft. Something he has had to build over the years in the Ghanaian music industry.
