Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, is rumoured to return to active duty very soon after fully recovering following her recent illness.
The announcement was made by President John Dramani Mahama during his ‘Thank You Tour’ in Dodowa, a suburb of Accra, on Friday, May 16, 2025.
Speaking to a cheering crowd, Mahama expressed deep gratitude for the Vice President’s improved health. “I’m happy to state that I spoke to her yesterday morning, and she will be back in the country before the end of next week. By God’s grace, she is fully recovered and ready to resume her duties,” he stated.
The Vice President reportedly fell ill on Friday, March 28, 2025, and was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the following day.
After medical consultation, she was granted a three-week medical leave starting April 7, during which she travelled to the United Kingdom (UK) for further treatment as a precautionary measure.
