An unidentified 75-year-old woman has been sentenced to serve a jail time of 12 years after she was prosecuted for bank robbery.
This 75-year-old woman walked into an undisclosed bank with 2 bags. She approached a teller, threatening her by revealing a set of weapons concealed in one of her bags. She demanded that the bags be filled with cash, and the teller complied out of fear of getting injured.
The teller called the emergency service as she stashed the bag with cash. She swiftly escaped the bank premises before the police arrived at the scene. Police personnel tracked her down through the CCTV footage recovered. She was eventually taken into custody at her residence, where some of the stolen cash was retrieved.
While in custody, the convicted 75-year-old woman admitted to robbing the bank. Her sister also revealed that she had borrowed huge sums of money from family and friends in order to transfer to a man she had met on an online dating forum.
Despite transferring a lot of money to her online partner, he kept demanding more, which instigated the 75-year-old’s bank robbery.
The 75-year-old convicted woman will lose her freedom as a result of falling victim to an online romance fraud.
The unidentified man allegedly scammed this elderly woman over $60,000 and kept demanding more, taking advantage of her obsession and affection.
