The 2020 edition of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards marked the 20th anniversary of the inception of the awards scheme. Additionally, the major event on the world entertainment calendar also marked the 40th anniversary of its TV network, BET.
The biggest night for black artistry, BET Awards took place virtually last Sunday. Amanda Seales held onto the mic as the host, as we witnessed thrilling performances from the likes of Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Usher, Dababy, Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, Roddy Ricch and Cloe × Halle. Moreover, for the very first time, the show was aired on CBS.

Meanwhile, African acts Burna Boy, Sha Sha, and Wizkid received honors on the night. Burna Boy historically won the Best International Act Award for the second consecutive time. Zimbabwe’s Sha Sha won the Best New Act award, whilst Wizkid shared in Beyonce’s win for the BET Her Award, for his collaboration on ‘Brown Skin Girl’.
