Balotelli can never be completely Italian – racial abuse leader reiterates

0

Learning of this, got me so saddened, considering the fact that it keeps replicating itself over and over again. Iconic footballer, Mario Balotelli was abused racially by a Hellas Verona ultras supporters group.

However, it was quite better to hear that, at least something was done about it this time around. The Serie A club penalized the head of the supporters, Luca Castellini with an 11-year ban. He was banned until ’30th June, 2030′.

Moreover, it was noticed that the referee had to halt the game in the early parts of the second half, for a cautionary statement to be issued against the racial abuse chants.

However, the manager of Verona, Ivan Juric claimed he did not hear any racist chants from the home supporters after the game.

Also, on Monday the head of the fans in question still had the guts to say this in an interview:

“Balotelli is Italian because he has Italian citizenship, but he can never be completely Italian.”

Now, that was too much. And though he got punished for doing so, there should be a better way of deterring others too going forward.

Today, Salvation has come to sinners.

Sunday Reflection

“Today, Salvation has come to sinners”
A canoe is useful where there is a big river, lake or sea. No one buys a canoe brings it to Kejetia. What on earth, will a canoe be doing in Kejetia. It makes a lot of sense to buy a canoe and send it to Cape-coast, Elmina, etc. Similarly, Salvation is there for people who have sinned, people who are lost. Since all have sinned, salvation is there for all, but only those who acknowledge their sinfulness are able to approach salvation (made available to all).

The Manifestation of God’s Love:

The first reading brings us face-to-face with the manifestation of God’s loving care in the preservation of all things, in the forgiveness of sins and restoration of humans to our lost dignity. He overlooks our sins and gives us ample time to repent. God feels himself in every creature because of His imperishable love for us. He uses many indicators to prompt us to retrace our steps.
Do people picture you as an outcast of Christ? Or do your actions and inactions make you feel being an outcast in Christ? Today, Jesus uses his loving care for the outcast, Zacchaeus to show us how meaningful our lives are to him.

God: I love tax collectors:

The Jews saw the tax collectors as traitors who collaborated with their enemies (Romans) to occupy their country and on top of it, collected taxes for them. In addition to collaborating with the Romans, they were using their office to extort money from their own people. The people hated them, shun them and regarded them as the worst of people. You may have also committed sins that make people shun your company and irritated seeing you. You are like a tax collector to them, but to Jesus, you are a wonderful friend. Because it is for your sake, he came.

Have a goodwill like Zacchaeus;

Make an effort to see Jesus because He has already seen you. Climb the sycamore and see His hand gesture calling on you to come.
Let us also learn from Jesus as Christians and do the best we can to help those we believe are failures in society. Pax Vobiscum!

Nigeria’s Oscar hopes dashed, Academy rejects LIONHEART.

0

At this point, Nigeria may be kissing goodbye to their hopes of earning an Oscar nomination next year, as Lionheart gets rejected.

Nigeria’s first-ever, submission for the Oscar academy awards, was not accepted for not meeting the rules for an International Feature Film.

The Academy made it clear that Genevieve Nnaji’s movie, LIONHEART had too many English dialogues, causing its rejection.

However, the multiple-award-winning actress, Genevieve Nnaji and her colleague Ava DuVernay could not take it lightly as they literally slam the move.
Meanwhile, contrary to the academy’s laid down rules for the international feature film category, 94-minutes of the Lionheart movie was made in English. Whilst, barely 12 minutes of its dialogues were in their Southeastern native language, Igbo. Whilst, barely 12 minutes of its dialogues were in their Southeastern native language, Igbo.

However, the rule states that: “an international film is defined as a feature-length motion picture (defined as over 40 minutes) produced outside the United States of America with a predominantly non-English dialogue track.”

Though all of Nigeria’s hopes seem dashed now, the film, however, would still be considered for other categories for the 2020 Oscars. Lionheart was written and produced by Genevieve Nnaji and Chinny Onwugbenu.

Genevieve took like her Twitter handle to register her displeasure, stating that:

“This movie represents the way we speak as Nigerians. This includes English which acts as a bridge between the 500+ languages spoken in our country; thereby making us #OneNigeria.” “It’s no different to how French connects commnities in former French colonies. We did not choose who colonized us. As ever, this film and many like it, is proudly Nigerian.” She exclaimed.

Instagram and Facebook ban sexual organ-like emojis.

0

Social media giants, Instagram and Facebook in a bid to expel sexually related vices, has banned emojis aubergine, peach and water drip.

These emojis they say, are too sexually suggestive, for they are widely used to denote a penis (aubergine), bum (peach), and ejaculation (water drip).

In view of this, the emojis can no more be used in a manner that asks for anything sexual or suggests sexuality. However, it can only be used in captions.

This move, according to Facebook and Instagram is in line with an update of their Sexual Solicitation Community Standards. And is meant to inhibit sex workers(prostitutes) from using the platforms to market and sell their services.

In an official statement on this effect, facebook disclosed: “People use Facebook to discuss and draw attention to sexual violence and exploitation. We recognize the importance of and want to allow for this discussion.

“We draw the line, however, when content facilitates, encourages or coordinates sexual encounters between adults.

“We also restrict sexually explicit language that may lead to solicitation because some audiences within our global community may be sensitive to this type of content and it may impede the ability for people to connect with their friends and the broader community.”

So, do not be surprised if you begin encountering any inhibitances when using those emojis.

Watch: Sarkodie’s double-parked international feature Party and BullS#!t

Watch Sarkodie’s double-parked international feature Party and BullS#!t. Ahead of his massive giveback to the community, where he grew up, This Is Tema, Ghana’s biggest music export, Sarkodie has released another tune. Following his widely enjoyed ‘Saara’ released barely a month ago, Party and Bullshit is the fifth single off his Black Love album. The double-parked international feature song got both Idris Elba and Donae’o on it.

The reigning BET Hip-hop awards Best International Flow winner hinted of this massive release earlier this week. He even disclosed he would be performing the tune for the very first time at his community music festival, This Is Tema.

The collaborative piece is an excellent tune, considering the outstanding hook by Donoe’o, Idris Elba’s interesting rap lines, and Sarkodie’s non-disappointing Twi rap punches. Upon listening, you would be left with no doubt it is going to be a favorite for many.

The record was produced by UK’s Island records, enjoy it below:
