Sunday Reflection

In our earthly life, we have fought, we are still fighting and we have more battles ahead of us to fight. Are we able? Can we? Yes, we are and we can, but only with God on our side can we come out victorious.

THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S:

The narrated episode in the first reading is teaching us that goals beyond our strength can only be achieved through unceasing prayer. Moses’ hand remained raised because Israel needed a victory and that victory could only be achieved on with his hand raised (prayers)

There are hurdles in life that can be jumped only through prayers. There are many enemies that confront us and obstruct our lives. They do not even give us breathing space: block our ambitions, meet us with so much hatred, etc. Some come in the form of fears; others unruly passions and still others, rejection and segregation. Letting our arms down makes fears, passions, rejection, etc. So let us keep our arms raised until evening – until the end of life without getting tired.

PRAY TO THE JUST GOD:

Prayers build our confidence and give us hope. In the politico-socio-religious Society of Jesus’s time, injustice was on the rampage. It is no different today. Today, it is represented by abuses and fraudulence at the cost of the poor and poorest of the poor, by inexplicable and absurd events and practices that disturb and contradict our longing for life. Prayers are the only means to save us from losing our heads in such situations when everything seems to conspire against God’s kingdom and us.

Life becomes difficult for us when our thoughts, sentiments, reactions, and plans are compromised. We can survive by maintaining a constant dialogue with the Lord in prayer. With him, we are able to examine all these areas of life and give us the best options.

Concluding our reflection:

Look to God in any decision you want to take. Look to him in difficult moments. In him we live, in Him, we move, in Him, we have all that we are. Pax Vobis!

Reading for the reflection: Ezekiel 17: 8-13, 2 Timothy 3; 14-42 and Luke 18: 1-8

Beyonce’s ‘Lion King’ soundtracks were a huge disappointment, they messed up – Elton John

The idea of doing a remake of Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ Movie simply got many so excited. People looked forward to reliving an all-new experience of watching a new version of their favorite movie. In view of this, the music goddess, Beyoncé was on board to make the soundtracks, remake some of the soundtracks from the old-version and she even curated her ‘Lion King: The Gift’ album it too.

However, iconic singer, Elton John who sung some of the widely accepted soundtracks for the original version in 1994, is not very impressed with the new soundtracks. Particularly pointing out Beyoncé’s remake of the ‘Spirit’ soundtrack as one of the worst of it all.

The singer who sung ‘Can you feel the love tonight’ and ‘Circle of life for the original version in his interview with GQ disclosed that the new soundtracks were ‘’a huge disappointment’’

He explained that: ‘’the magic and joy were lost’’ in the remade soundtracks. Elton John said:

“The new version of ‘The Lion King’ was a huge disappointment to me, because I believe they messed the music up. Music was so much a part of the original and the music in the current film didn’t have the same impact.”He added, “The magic and joy were lost. The soundtrack hasn’t had nearly the same impact in the charts that it had 25 years ago when it was the bestselling album of the year. The new soundtrack fell out of the charts so quickly, despite the massive box-office success.”

He disclosed: “Santo was sick and we left Ghana so he could find cure abroad. He was very ill and even after we returned to Ghana, he lived two months before he finally gave up the ghost”.

Judas continued by also debunking allegations against Santo, which suggested that he used to smuggle cocaine abroad, stating it was false. Answering to a probe about the incident, Judas said:

” If Santo died of cocaine smuggling, how could he have survived many months before his death? The doctor made me aware the sickness was chronic because there was not much they could do to save him”.
