Billboard-charted Ghanaian BET Award winner, Sarkodie seeks to bring back popular Ghanaian dance and music genre, Azonto. Thus, following the release of a track he made with a widespread twitter jargon, ‘Fa Hooki Me’ used by Ghanaian tweeps, mostly his fans, Sarkodie has decided to use that to reawaken the spirit of Azonto.
The rapper, Sarkodie played a huge role in making Azonto a global sensation back in 2013, with his ‘You go Kill Me’ track that featured EL. This year, the “Adonai” hitmaker wants to bring back that feeling of Azonto, which took Africa and the world by storm. However, this time around he seems more serious about making it bigger than it was before.

Because of this, Sarkodie originated hashtags; bring back Azonto (#BringBackAzonto) is currently at the top of twitter trends in Ghana alongside the hashtag for his ‘Fa Hooki Me’ song (#FaHookiMe). These Azonto backed hashtags have already gained a massive craze on social media after Sarkodie posted them, with most of Ghana’s top celebrities joining it.
Moreover, Sarkodie in a recent tweet encouraged other artistes to release Azonto tracks, promising to give them a verse on it. Artistes can submit their songs for a verse from Sarkodie through the email address, [email protected]. Read his tweets below:

However, this whole idea to reignite Azonto started from his track, ‘Fa Hooki Me’ largely influenced by Sarknation tweeps, mostly referred to as agenda boys. Precisely, popular tweep, Kaly Jay (@gyaigyimi) is a key player in the said ‘Fa Hooki Me’ viral term.
