Some unidentified individuals have completely vandalized the iconic statue of former President Nana Addo Danquah. The presidential statue, situated at the entrance of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi-Takoradi, sparked many controversies following its unveiling.
The statue, commissioned on November 6, 2024, was first vandalized barely a month after it was unveiled. Residents of the area woke up one day to find a part of the statue’s leg broken. However, the cause of this was unknown. The Ghana Police Service issued a statement to address the issue while the investigation commenced. Meanwhile, there have been no follow-up updates on the issue.
It was reported on December 19, 2024, that the statue has been repaired and has reverted to its original state. In spite of this, it has been reported that the repaired statue of former President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo has been completely destroyed this time around.
Per images shared online from the scene, it can be noticed that the head of the statue was lying flat on the ground and several other parts were scattered around.
After the statue was unveiled, several Ghanaians expressed their displeasure with the President’s actions. However, the criticism has since escalated and delved into vandalism.
