“If You Don’t Know People In Power, You Won’t Get Government Gigs” – Stonebwoy Laments

Ghanaian Afro-Dancehall star Stonebwoy has openly expressed disagreement with the current government’s selection of artists to perform at national events. He refers to the act as biased and unfair to several artists, including himself.

The Bhim Nation president expressed his disappointment at being sidelined for a recent government-launched event despite being available during a live radio session on Asempa FM.

Stonebwoy revealed that he had contacted a minister directly to express his worries, only to be told that the proximity to power often dictates who gets chosen for such performances.

A few weeks ago, the 2025 President’s Cup, an annual football bout which is played in honor of the sitting president, was held at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This year’s bout marked the 10th anniversary of the annual event, making it a special occasion. Ghana’s top two major football clubs, Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, clashed, with Asante Kotoko emerging as the winner.

The event was graced by some of Ghana’s top music artists, with Shatta Wale included. He delivered a vibrant performance, as did the other artists invited.

Many people believe Stonebwoy made those statements based on his longstanding rivalry with Shatta Wale, a feud that has spanned a couple of years.
