Obrafour sues Drake for $10 Million in copyright infringement lawsuit.
Ghanaian rap legend, Obrafour sues Canadian rapper, Drake for sampling his song. He is depending a compensation sum of 10 million dollars for the copyright infringement.
According to the Obrafour’s lawsuit, the hip-hop act sent him an email requesting permission to sample his song. He declined the permission request but Drake went ahead to override his refusal to release the sampled song in an album days later.

The song, ‘Calling My Name’ which sampled Obrafour’s 2003 hit, Oye Ohene(remix) was released as part of Drake’s album, ‘Honestly, Nevermind’. For which reason, Drake is now set to face charges for the alleged copyright infringement as the Ghanaian rap icon takes him on in court. The details of the lawsuit were sighted online via the District Court of the Southern District of New York.
Meanwhile, since the merit of the case is now in the hands of the New York court, we would follow the proceedings closely for subsequent reports. For now, the Obrafour is a millionaire ostensibly, considering the trajectory of the suit he filed.
