Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang, the second-year Adventist Senior High School student who sustained severe injuries to her eye after being accidentally shot in the face, has touched down in the UK for an urgent surgery.
Suzzy was accompanied by a caregiver, her brother, and Rafik Mahama, a special aide to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, the sponsor of her entire medical treatment in the UK.
Experts from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Agarwal Eye Hospital, where she initially received treatment, recommended that she travel outside the country for specialized treatment.
Due to the severity of injuries sustained after the shot, Suzzy required special eye surgery abroad.
Ghanaian business magnate Mr. Ibrahim Mahama stepped in to fully fund the travelling costs as well as all medical expenses incurred during Suzzy Pinamang’s treatment in the UK. This timely intervention by Ibrahim Mahama relieved the family of the burden of funding Suzzy’s treatment abroad.
With the help of Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and British High Commissioner, Her Excellency Harriet Thompson, Suzzy secured a visa alongside two caregivers to travel to the UK.
Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also instructed the Ghana High Commission in the UK to provide Suzzy with special assistance and privileges throughout her stay in the UK whilst undergoing treatment.
