The United States has donated over 14 armoured military grade vehicles to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). This donation is aimed at enhancing Ghana’s defence capabilities at its Northern territorial borders.
The donation valued at $6 million was presented by the U.S Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer, at the 153 Armoured Regiment in Burma Camp, Accra.
Madam Palmer, during the handover ceremony, emphasised the significance of securing Ghana’s northern border amid regional conflicts.
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, expressed his sincere gratitude to the U.S government for its commitment to ensuring regional and global peace.
This donation will further strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Ghana and the United States, paving the way for uniform development.
However, in a surprising turn of events, several Ghanaians have reacted negatively to the kind gesture by the U.S government. Many are suggesting the U.S is trying to utilise Ghana as grounds for a possible invasion of Burkina Faso.
