Roseline Awinmah Akurugu historically appointed Chief Justice of Toende Students Union.

The Toende Students Union(TONSU) president, H.E. Akotia Paschal Asaana (APA) and leader of the new phase agenda has appointed Miss Roseline Awinmah Akurugu as Chief Justice of Toende Students Union for the 2023/2024 administration. The student of the University of Energy and Natural Resources(UENR) was appointed to steer all affairs related to the Judicial dispensation of TONSU.

According to H.E. Akotia Paschal Asaana, this appointment is the first of its kind to happen in the history of the union. Thus, it is the first time a lady is being appointed to the high office in Toende Students Union.

Speaking of why he chose to change the narrative, he said he shares in the saying that “the empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description”. Thus, that is why he believes that it is about time women are given equal platforms to show the world what they are made of as they excel. This, he reiterated is the rationale behind her historic appointment as the first female Chief Justice of TONSU.

Meanwhile, the Chief Justice designate, Her Ladyship Roseline Awinmah Akurugu hails from Binaba in the Bawku West District. She had her primary and JHS education at the Bots Memorial institute and proceeded to Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School, where she studied General Science. Her hard work and diligence afforded her excellent grades in the WASSCE and landed her admission into the University of Energy and natural resources, Sunyani.

Moreover, the new Chief Justice of Toende Students Union, Roseline Awinmah Akurugu has an enviable catalog of leadership track records. As a student leader, she has served in different capacities and entities, leading a mantle of positive change. Speaking of which, she was the Deputy Library Prefect, Deputy Prayer Secretary, and the General Secretary for Debaters Club at the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School (2018/2019).

Currently, Roseline Awinmah Akurugu is the second Deputy Speaker, Member of Parliament, Chairperson of the privileges committee, and Chairperson of the Budget Committee of the UENR SRC Parliamentary Council. Also, she is the sitting General Secretary of the Kufuor Scholars Program, UENR Chapter.
