Yesterday, the Toende Students Union(TONSU) under the leadership of H.E. Akotia Paschal Asaana led a delegation of both incumbent and outgone executives of TONSU to Diamond House, Accra for the official presentation of the Toende Most Beautiful (TMB’ 22) scholarship package to the reigning queen, Awinsogim.

The winner of Toende Most Beautiful 2022, Awinsogim was awarded a full one-year scholarship worth GH¢ 6,500 as part of her prizes from Toende Students Union. The scholarship covers her tuition fee, accommodation fee, and a one-time book allowance.

According to Dr. John Kingsley Krugu, nobody owns this world, you can only take a portion of it and own it. To take hold of a portion of the world, he believes that one must be empowered and that’s exactly what he is giving out today.
“I’m interested in the activities of the union that would bring change and impact the lives of students and people in the Bawku West District at large,” he noted.

About Toende Most Beautiful and Toende Students Union

Meanwhile, Toende Most Beautiful is a prestigious beauty pageant organized by the Toende Students Union in the Bawku West District of the upper east region. The union is a very strong movement and the students’ representative council of the Bawku West District, established in the 1960s through the initiative of Prof. George Agbango and Hon. Sulley Agholisi. The union has since then kept growing and today, it has thousands of students as members.

The incumbent President’s entourage of representatives from the outgone executives[Thus, the General Secretary and Women’s Commissioner] and the current executives thanked Dr. John Kingsley Krugu for the wonderful package.

President of Toende Students Union’s remarks

In the presentation of the president, H.E. Akotia Paschal Asaana, he said the kind gesture was unprecedented in the history of Toende Students Union and as such, worth applauding. 
“According to me, this is unprecedented in the history of the union and I sincerely want to thank Dr. John Kingsley Krugu for this scholarship package. It is my hope that this shall go a long way to help our queen in her educational pursuit and towards the execution of her project,” he said.

Moreover, he added that the award would go a long way to motivate young ladies in Toende Students Union and Toende at large to also challenge themselves and dare to strive to be great.

Further speaking, H.E. Akotia Paschal Asaana reiterated that leadership is all about continuity and so he does not take all the glory of this feat. He, therefore, seized the opportunity to commend the tremendous advocacy of his immediate predecessors, the Silas-led administration in securing the scholarship package.

Also, he lauded the bold steps of continuity of his administration, most especially his hard-working executives who made it possible. He then charged the reigning queen to go out there and impact society with her outstanding project.

“We shall build a resilient Students’ front that would stand the test of time. Believe, and let’s make it happen,” he said.

The ceremony ended with words of gratitude from the reigning queen, Miss Rholanda Awinsogim Atinga, the winner of TOENDE MOST BEAUTIFUL 2022. She thanked Dr. John Kingsley Krugu for the award.
“Dr. Krugu is my human God,” she declared.

“After the beauty pageant, I did not know my source of funding for the academic year until Dr. came in. God bless you so much,” she added.
