Sarkodie refusing to sign onto Akon’s record label is his best decision ever – Arnold
Akon revealed he signed Sarkodie to his record label, Konvict Music. However, Sarkodie was not ready for it, so he refused the deal. This happened almost a decade ago, however, it has recently popped up in multiple discussions.
Recently speaking on the issue, Shatta Wale said Sarkodie failed to use the opportunity he had with Akon. However, top celebrated entertainment journalist, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo disagrees.
According to Arnold, Sarkodie’s decision not to sign onto Akon’s record label was his best decision ever. Thus, though it was one of the most important decisions of his career, it was his decision taken.
“Sarkodie not signing onto Akon’s record label is one of the biggest decisions he has taken, if that is true. It’s his best decision,” he noted.
Moreover, explaining why he says so, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo said Akon’s record label, Konvict Music has failed to project any of its signees. Thus, it has failed to help any of its signees to do well globally in recent times.
“Tell me who you know on from Akon’s label. The signees include OJ Boo Dirty, Demarco, Money J, Yaa Boy, Omega amongst others. I am super gratified with where Sarkodie independently has moved his career to where he is,” he said.
“Independently, see where Sarkodie has moved his career from here to that international pedestal,” he added.
Nonetheless, Arnold said Shatta Wale should shut up about Sarkodie’s career because he is nowhere near Sarkodie’s international appeal.
“He (Shatta Wale) cannot match Sarkodie’s international presence…,” he declared. Besides, Shatta Wale was not even able to leverage his collaboration with Beyonce to grow internationally. Arnold was speaking on Peace Fm’s Entertainment News review.
