The numerous myths associated with the mental developmental disorder, autism has become an unceasing misery to many families in Ghana. Wikipedia defines this health condition, which could also be referred to as intellectual disability as a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties with social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior.

Though clearly stated and proven to be just a disorder of the intellect, many still choose to attach many spiritual interpretations to it. Due to this, they tend to stigmatize, humiliate, abuse and in most cases completely isolate victims of such conditions.

Amidst the usual glitz and glamour, that characterizes the event; our movie stars added an extra touch of style on the red carpet too. The red carpet was hosted by the gorgeous, MzGee who sat in for Giovanni Caleb, thus for the GMA edition of the Tv3’s Showbiz360.

It was rather unfortunate that the event marred by severe sound hitches also began very late. However, the emcee, Afia Schwarzenezer did her best to keep the place alive with her rib-cracking comedy. She delivered a fantastic comic piece about the awful Cardi B meet and greet saga, amidst other trendy issues.

Though it has been several weeks of thrilling performances from the MTN hitmaker contestants, it all went down just like a twinkle of an eye to me. The competition was so tough and entertaining, I felt it should have lasted, maybe a little longer than it did.

However, all so soon time was up to crown the next MTN hitmaker, the season eight winner. The breathtaking grand finale took place tonight, Saturday at the Fantasy Dome.

Just as contestants did over several weeks, battling it out for the ultimate prize. They all gave out their best shot in a final performance, to bring forth a winner.

Finally, the moment of truth came and Lasmid emerged winner of this season’s competition. Just as the season’s slogan, ‘Live your wildest dream’, Lasmid has now set on a journey to live his wildest dream.

Lasmid’s prize package included a GH¢120,000 recording deal, a plaque and a Beats solo wireless headphone from MTN pulse.

The runner ups Nessa, Ali Baba, and Kofi Pages who placed 4th, 3rd and 2nd respectively also walked away with amazing consolation prizes. They each received a cash prize of GH¢ 20,000, GH¢ 15,000 and GH¢10,000 according to their respective positions.
