There were controversies last week over the ambassadorial deal between Ghana Export-Import (Exim) Bank and Shatta Wale, in which the dancehall act was alleged to have been paid GHC 2M. Kumbungu MP, Ras Mubarak brought the said deal to light when he raised concerns about it at the Public Accounts Committee(PAC) of parliament.
Following this, it was confirmed that such a contract existed between Ghana Exim bank and its selected ambassadors for a made-in-Ghana campaign, Shatta Wale and Aqya Koo. However, it was further clarified by the Deputy CEO of Ghana Exim Bank that though the deal exists, the bank did not pay Shatta Wale nor Aqya Koo GHC 2M.

Shatta Wale’s composition about Ghana’s rich resources is a beautiful piece to check out. The song talks about the numerous quality products produced in Ghana and why all Ghanaians must be proud and patronise them. It also projects some of Ghana’s best export goods including cocoa, timber and our mineral resources.
The Ghana Exim Bank was established by the Ghana Export-Import Bank Act 2016 Act 911. The made in Ghana campaign being rolled out is dubbed ‘Made-In-Ghana 4P’, where the 4P stands for ‘encouraging Ghanaians to Produce, Promote, and Purchase Made-In-Ghana products and services so we can Prosper as a people and nation’.
