The ‘Ashaiman To The World’ is a free concert annually held at the Saka Saka park in Ashaiman by dance hall BET Award winner, Stonebwoy. It has been running for four years in a row now. However, this year’s edition seem to be in limbo, as the dance-hall is still not certain about it happening as planned.
In a recent interview with Citi news, Stonebwoy made it clear that though he and his team are still planning of having the concert this year, there is a high possibility of it being a no show. Giving the reason that, the venue for the show is now being sold, the ‘Shuga’ hit-maker was however sure that, if it does not happen this year it will certainly going to happen next year.
Moreover, he stressed that no conclusive stand has being taken yet. He said:
“The reality is that, for us to have done it four years running, we wish it will stay. One of the major reasons why it is looking like it might not be a possibility [this year], though it has not been written off totally, is because the area is being sold…There is some confusion going on regarding that issue.”
But why?
“We don’t want to set a date for them to start the project so that’s what is going on now. I am contemplating if it’s going to happen or not. Even if it doesn’t happen this year, it will definitely happen next year. An election year gives me a stronger stance to make it happen because I need that to unify the peoplelikeI have always done giving a platform to opinion leaders to come and educate the masses. Ashaiman to the world is forever butdoesn’t haveto happen each year,”

This veteran Ghanaian actor recently sent a message across to government, threatening to go naked to protest if the incumbent government does not take a step to salvage our dying movie industry, thus by banning foreign content on our television screens. However, in his most recent interview he, Mikki Osei Berko has made yet another interesting revelation, stating that acting in Ghana does not pay at all.
Disclosing this in an interview on Peace FM, the actor cum television broadcaster revealed he makes barely GHC 5,000 a year staring in movies. He again added that, the fact that the industry does not pay enough to make living out of it, explains why most of our actors depend on public support to cater for their needs. Moreover, that, most of them if not for ambassadorial deals and other endeavors would have been in so much financial constraints.
“I make less than 5,000 cedis a year from acting in movies and dramas. But for any ambassadorial deals and other businesses how would I have survived” Mikki disclosed in the interview.
Following up on one the biggest story of the just ended week, we would recall an official statement of Kelvyn Boy’s release from the Burniton music Group. The dance-hall award winning artist, Stonebwoy finally had to make it public after several weeks of not confirming the rumors. However, Kelvyn Boy’s reaction to all this is the center of attention now. The former signee to Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music, in an interview on Hitz Daybreak with Andy Dosty said that, everyone but Stonebwoy was proud of him while he was under the label.
Disclosing how surprised and hurt he was about being tagged as ungrateful, Kelvyn Boy stated that his biggest wish was to see Stonebwoy being proud of him. He again added that, he was never disrespectful because he exhibited loyalty and respect to Stonebwoy and everyone at the record label. In his own words:
I am grateful to Stonebwoy for showing me to the world but he was never proud of me. Everybody in the team was but Stonebwoy wasn’t proud of me. Because he has never said i did something good but he was here to say bad things about me.
However, the most shocking thing of all he said was that, he paid for most his music videos, up to 80% of them. He then went on to say, he has never received a dime from what was realized from all his online music streams.
I don’t know anything about royalties. Either Spotify or Youtube revenues i dont have any idea about earnings. i dont need that.
i paid for 80% of my music videos under Burniton Music Group; i had to pay,
Remembering shades of the Mentor days, the most popular judge i would say was Mark Okraku Mantey. He was known for his feature of being quite hard to please on the show. Many were elated hearing the news of a massive comeback of the reality show, which went on a long hiatus after running 7 seasons. However, many too were not quite excited about the exclusion of Mark from this new season dubbed Mentor Reloaded.
The list which was released after the launch of the comeback season saw the names of Adina, Trigmatic and Bisa Simons being mentioned as judges. Meanwhile, though reactions from the show lovers suggested their desire for Mark Okraku Mantey’s inclusion, his recent interview with Hitz FM suggests he rather turned down the offer. Answering the question of why he will not be part of the new edition of the singing reality show, he disclosed:
i am not going to be part of Mentor, it was the prerogative of Mentor to want to have me and Dominic on the show. It is also our prerogative to say no
In explanation to that, he added:
When we go for parties and other engagements out there, people ask me when we are coming back, As if i am the owner of Mentor. It is only prudent that we have become part of stakeholders and there, the relationship must be kept. If you do not plan with me and you think i can just come at anytime you call me, that wouldn’t be fair .
Mentor is a very rewarding television singing reality show, organised by one of Ghana’s leading broadcasting networks, TV3.
Last night, the Zero Borla fashion and music show went down at the Accra sports stadium. The event geared towards stopping single use plastics through fashion and music saw a very massive turnout. Patrons were treated to great performances from the likes of Stonebwoy, Efya, Joey B, EL, MzVee, Ambolley, Tinny, others. With special appearances from Agbeko, KOD, among a host of models on the run way.
However, one of the major highlights of the night was when Stonebwoy was conferred the honor of being a global ambassador of sanitation for the Millennium Excellence Foundation and WASH AFRICA Initiative by Amb. With this, the dancehall award winner now joins a distinguished list of Ban Single Use Plastics advocates, which includes Aliko Dangote, President John Agyekum Kuffour, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Wole Soyinka. The presentation of the honor, was done by the president of the foundation, Mr Ashim Morton. Congratulations to the BhimNation boss.
