Dancehall crooner, Shatta Wale has been remanded into police custody following a court hearing today. Shatta Wale was imprisoned for one week with three others.
Their first court hearing which took place today at an Accra court, saw the arrested four, Shatta Wale, Nana Dope, Idris Yusif, and Eric Venator plead not guilty to their charges. Shatta Wale was charged with publication of false information with the intention of causing fear and panic, the other three were charged with abetment in Shatta Wale’s crime.

The remaining person also remanded is the pastor who allegedly prophesized Shatta Wale’s gunshot attack, Pastor Jesus Ahoufe. He was charged with causing fear and panic. The pastor, Bishop Stephen Kwesi Appiah also pleaded not guilty and is expected to reappear in court on October 25, 2021.
Moreover, Shatta Wale’s lawyer pleaded the court to grant his clients bail, as they do not pose any threat to ongoing investigations. However, the state prosecutor insisted the court should remand them for thorough and impartial investigations into the case to continue.
Meanwhile, they are expected to reappear in court on October 26, 2021, for the second hearing.
